Originally trained as a barber, Geoff began painting in 1941-1942 studying part time with a local painter in Devizes, working mainly in water colour. He joined the Navy in 1945, and after demobilisation, spent five years in full time art education at Salisbury. He taught full time in various schools and colleges in the Midlands and Rugby.

He came to Leamington Spa in 1985 after retiring from full time teaching. His work centred around the Jephson Gardens, adjoining parks and cafes, as well as the Kennet and Avon canals and landscapes in Devizes and Cornwall.

He has exhibited extensively in the south of England and the Midlands. Using different sized sketch books using some colour for which he can get more immediate graphic contact with subjects, which builds up increased curiosity and a never ending visual realization of what is 'out there'.
