Statement

I have a broad practice based in the Custard Factory in Birmingham which includes painting, drawing, photography and site-specific pieces.  I am currently developing a new body of work which explores the boundaries between painting and photography. I use a fine spray paint to create large, sombre images which mimic photograms.

The first of these, Disappeared grew out of an experience of loss, the lilies leave a void which represents grief. I have continued to explore the technique in December and January this year some of these paintings were hung back to back as double-sided work in the windows of Birmingham Central Library where they celebrated the short days of the dark time of the year while anticipating the long days of summer.
