My paintings and sculpture draw on reality, but they evolve without any direct reference to the real world save that of my memory. Although I do research drawings constantly, I prefer to trawl through my stored experiences from my recollection of this resource so that my images may be less illustrative and therefore more tangible, than a direct reference to the real world may conclude. So, although my works relate to the visual experience of ordinary life, they are not intended to be subconscious or unreal. However, they do try to re-present reality in a more meaningful way.
I mention the above by way of an explanation for the diversity of my artwork, for although the repetition of certain themes implies scholarship, it can also signal an ease of effort or a lack of risk taking.
