Mass media, global communication and the exponential development of an information driven society provide both the inspiration and source material for the work of the young American artist Michael Takeo Magruder.

Takeo's artistic practice is concerned with merging the notions of art and media into a single entity; blurring the distinctions between the two through the hybridisation and recombination of their constituent elements. Using digitised extracts from world media, the fragments are processed into a single binary data file; the artwork in its pure state of existence. These compositions are then transcribed into an eclectic mix of artefacts which our visual senses can assimilate, ranging from futuristic stained-glass windows and digital lightscreens to architectural installations and ephemeral moving projections.

Educated in the biological sciences with no formal arts background, Takeo's work is refreshingly distanced from the constraints and preconceptions of the art establishment. His work is receiving substantial critical acclaim within the United Kingdom and has been showcased in numerous venues across the country.
